TUMBLING 

At Famous Athletics, our tumbling program is designed with athlete safety and success as the top priorities. We focus on supporting the growth of each athlete’s cheer career by building strong fundamentals and advancing skills with care. In every tumbling class, our number one goal is to ensure athletes are confident, safe, and technically correct.
We are so excited to have your athlete join us! Please use the descriptions below to help place your athlete in the class that best fits their needs and ability.

Beginner Tumbling:

This class is designed for new cheerleaders with little to no tumbling experience. The focus is on teaching athletes body control and building the foundation for future tumbling success. Athletes will strengthen muscles, develop core stability, learn proper head and shoulder placement, footwork, and how to safely push through their feet.

Skills in this class include:
   •    Forward Rolls
   •    Backward Rolls
   •    Handstands
   •    Cartwheels
   •    Bridges with feet together
   •    Front Limbers
   •    Back Limbers
   •    Back Extension Rolls
   •    Power Hurdles (introductory work)

Advanced Beginner Tumbling:

This class marks the true beginning of Level 1 tumbling skills. Athletes in this group should already have confidence in their body control. The goal is to strengthen technique and prepare for mastering all Level 1 skills.

Skills in this class include:
   •    Push and reach technique
   •    Leg strength for power skills
   •    Cartwheel Step-Together
   •    Cartwheel on bad leg
   •    Power Hurdles
   •    Power Hurdle to Handstand
   •    Back Extension Rolls
   •    Front Walkovers
   •    Back Walkovers
   •    One-Arm Cartwheels
   •    Roundoffs
   •    Valdez
   •    Back Walkover Switch Kick

Intermediate A Tumbling:

Athletes in this class have mastered all Level 1 tumbling skills and are now ready to progress into power skills. Emphasis is placed on developing proper shapes, control, and learning to generate power.

Skills in this class include:
   •    Neutral head placement
   •    Correct roundoff landings
   •    Handstand Snap-Downs 
   •    Cartwheel Step-Together with rebound
   •    Handstand to Back Walkover Step-Together
   •    Front Handspring
   •    Back Handspring
   •    Front Walkover Roundoff
   •    Roundoff Rebound Turn
   •    Back Handspring Step-Out
   •    Roundoff Back Handspring

Intermediate B Tumbling:

 

Athletes in this class have mastered Intermediate A skills and will now focus on connecting multiple power skills.

 

Skills in this class include:

• Neutral head placement

• Correct roundoff landings

• Handstand Snap-Downs (floor and panel mats)

• Cartwheel Step-Together with rebound

• Handstand to Back Walkover Step-Together

• Front Handspring

• Back Handspring

• Front Walkover Roundoff

• Roundoff Rebound Turn

• Back Handspring Step-Out

• Roundoff Back Handspring

Advanced Intermediate Tumbling:

 

Athletes in this class have mastered Intermediate B skills and will begin perfecting Level 3 tumbling skills. Focus is on connecting multiple passes and refining advanced power skills.

 

Skills in this class include:

• Back Handspring Series (BHS–BHS–BHS)

• Jump to Back Handsprings

• Back Handspring Step-Out to Series

• Front Walkover Aerial

• Flyspring

• Roundoff–Back Handspring Step-Out

• Roundoff–Back Handspring–Tuck

• Roundoff–Back Handspring Series–Tuck

• Roundoff ½ Turn–Back Handspring–Tuck

Advanced Tumbling:

 

This class is for athletes who have mastered Advanced Intermediate skills and are now perfecting Level 4 tumbling.

 

Skills in this class include:

• Standing Tuck

• Jump–Back Handspring–Tuck

• Back Handspring Step-Out to Tuck

• Roundoff–Back Handspring–Layout

• Front Tuck Step-Out

• Roundoff–Back Handspring–Layout

• Full twisting drills

Invite-Only Tumbling:

 

This elite class requires an athlete evaluation for placement. Athletes work on Level 5+ skills with a focus on elite combinations and twisting passes.

 

Skills in this class include:

• Jump–Standing Tuck

• Back Handspring Step-Out–Tuck

• Back Handspring–Whip–Layout

• Back Handspring Series–Full

• Jump–Back Handspring Series–Full

• Roundoff–Back Handspring–Full

• Punch Front Step-Out–Roundoff–Back Handspring–Full

• Arabian–Full

• Combination passes to Full

• Back Handspring Series–Double Full

• Back Handspring–Whip–Layout

• Arabian through to Full

• Punch Front Step-Out–Roundoff–Back Handspring–Full

• Roundoff–Whip–Full
